St Andrew Church
This quaint countryside church is home to an expansive collection of medieval wall paintings. These historical artworks were concealed for centuries, hidden beneath layers of plaster. It was not until the tumultuous times of World War Two that these masterpieces were accidentally discovered. A bomb that fell in the vicinity caused significant disturbance to the plasterwork. Consequently, the damaged plaster was removed, unveiling the stunning medieval wall paintings beneath. This unexpected revelation added a remarkable historical and artistic dimension to this rural church.
