St Mary
In the late 13th century, the Archbishop of Canterbury founded a college in this location, designed to accommodate a master and six canons, or priests. This historical fact explains the considerable size of the church that stands here today. Additionally, the timber-framed houses situated across the street were the residences of the master and his canons, further contributing to the area's rich history.
