St John's Rownhams
Major William Colt commissioned the construction of the church as an expression of gratitude towards God for his miraculous recovery from a severe illness. The church features intricately carved representations of Major Colt and his wife, positioned on either side of the chancel steps, further personalizing this testament of his faith and thankfulness.
