St Mary
It is likely that the location of the current church was once home to a wooden Saxon church. However, what we can confirm with certainty is that during the 11th and 12th centuries, a Norman church stood on this site. This church was constructed using a combination of clunch, a traditional building material, and rubble, which was interspersed with Roman tiles.
