St Nicholas
In 1287, the Romney Marshes experienced a devastating storm that resulted in extensive damage. The storm, which was of catastrophic proportions, swept across the marshes, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. New Romney, in particular, bore the brunt of the storm's fury, with tons of sand, gravel, and silt burying the town. The damage caused by this natural disaster was so severe that it was impossible to accurately estimate its extent.
