Chester-Le-Street Golf Club
The Chester-le-Street golf course, nestled in the picturesque countryside around Lumley Castle and along the River Wear, offers a serene and mature parkland setting. The course provides stunning views of the Emirates Durham International Cricket Ground to the West, and is surrounded by mature woodland on most of its Eastern boundaries. Beyond the cricket ground, players can enjoy the sight of distant fells and hills. The course was the result of a collaboration between two Open Championship winners, Sandy Herd and Ted E Ray, who won their titles in 1902 at Royal Liverpool and in 1912 at Muirfield, respectively. Their combined expertise and passion for the sport have made the Chester-le-Street golf course a popular choice among golf enthusiasts.
