St Matthew
The remarkable late Victorian gothic church owes its existence to the collaborative efforts of three key individuals. Pickering Phipps, a local brewer, generously sponsored the project. The architectural design was masterfully crafted by Matthew Henry Holding, a local architect. The church was further brought to life by its first incumbent, Reverend JR Hussey. Their collective contributions resulted in the creation of this outstanding architectural masterpiece.
