Petworth Cottage Museum
The Petworth Cottage Museum is a beautifully restored property, part of the Leconfield Estate, that takes visitors back in time to the year 1910. This was when the cottage was inhabited by Mary Cummings. The restoration process has been meticulously carried out, taking into consideration various aspects of Mary's life. This includes her employment at Petworth House, her personal life at home, her Irish Catholic heritage, and the local community's recollections of her. The museum is operated by a local independent charity and is overseen by a team of welcoming volunteer stewards, all dedicated to preserving and sharing this unique slice of history.
