Provost Skeneʼs House

Provost Skene's House, a historical site dating back to 1545, serves as a fascinating museum that showcases a collection of period rooms. These rooms are meticulously furnished to reflect the lifestyle of the 17th, 18th, and early 19th centuries, providing visitors with a glimpse into the past. The house is named in honor of Lord Provost George Skene, one of Aberdeen's most notable residents, who is believed to have ordered the creation of the intricately carved plaster ceilings. The Painted Gallery, another highlight of the house, features a unique series of religious paintings for visitors to appreciate. Additionally, the Costume Gallery offers rotating exhibits of historical clothing, adding another layer of interest to the visitor experience.
