Swan Inn
As of September 2021, the Swan Inn has adopted irregular operating hours. It is typically open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, but it is advisable to call ahead if you are planning a visit from afar. The Swan Inn is a historic establishment that dates back to the late 18th century. It is uniquely situated on a steep slope, giving the impression that it is chained to the hill. This is due to the sudden drop in the ground beneath the Inn's foundations. Visitors to the Swan Inn will notice a large iron strap that runs along the back of the building, with each end wrapped around the corners. This strap is secured to girders that are embedded within the rocks of a disused quarry located across the road. These bolts serve to anchor the Inn to its precarious location. This unique feature adds to the charm and historical significance of the Swan Inn, making it a must-visit location for those interested in architecture, history, or simply a unique dining experience.
