Godwins

Constructed in 1870 as a grand private residence, the Godwins was transformed into a pub in 1954. The establishment is renowned for its distinctive red brick Gothic architecture. It also houses numerous mementos, particularly in the cellar, of its original proprietor, William Godwin, who was also the owner of the well-known local tile works. The threat of being converted into flats has been successfully averted and under its new ownership, the Godwins has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment. It now operates as a boutique hotel, offering six rooms, each with its own en-suite facilities. The interior decor features antique furnishings, in harmony with the historical character of the building.
