Railway Inn / Dust Hole
Located conveniently near Salisbury College, our welcoming neighborhood pub holds the unique distinction of being the only one in the country to be officially licensed under two names. A glance at the sign hanging outside reveals one of these names - 'The Railway'. This moniker is a nod to the pub's location, which is close to a now-defunct goods railway station. In addition to its railway connection, the pub also has a historical link to a coal delivery yard that was once nearby. The coal dust from this yard would often blow into the bar, leading the locals to affectionately refer to the pub as the 'Dust Hole'. This quirky nickname has stuck and is now the pub's second official name. Whether you're a student from Salisbury College looking for a friendly local hangout, or a visitor interested in unique local history, our pub offers a warm welcome and a fascinating backstory. So why not drop by the 'Railway' or the 'Dust Hole', and enjoy a pint in a place that's truly one of a kind?
