Picture Palace
The Picture Palace, originally a cinema built in 1912 and later replaced by The Embassy in 1930, has been transformed into a spacious pub that still maintains the charm of a picture house. The pub's unique layout features a sloping floor that leads down to a long, curved bar situated where the stage once stood. Above the bar, a large television screen is prominently displayed, accompanied by striking Art Deco installations that add a touch of elegance to the space. Additional television screens are scattered throughout the pub, offering patrons a variety of channels to choose from. Conveniently located near both bus and train stations, the pub is easily accessible for locals and visitors alike. The establishment also welcomes guide dogs, ensuring it caters to a diverse range of customers.
