Clarendon
Previously recognized as the Butchers Arms, the pub is situated in a prime location with a stunning view overlooking the River Wear. The establishment features a single room with a picture window that provides a picturesque view towards The National Glass Centre and Roker. From 2005 to 2011, the pub's basement served as the home to the Bull Lane Brewing Co. Notably, a white plaque adorns the front of the pub, and a blue plaque is affixed to the side, both acknowledging the historical significance of Bull Lane, which runs down the left side of the building. After a period of closure, the pub was delighted to welcome patrons once again, reopening its doors in mid-August 2023. This establishment not only offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere but also serves as a reminder of the area's rich history and brewing heritage.
