Red Rooster
After a hiatus of two years, the alehouse, previously known as The Wharf, reopened its doors to the public on May 26, 2021. Located just half a mile from the heart of Brighouse town, this long-standing, exceptional free house is definitely worth the stroll. Currently, the alehouse offers up to six varieties of hand-pulled beers, ensuring there's something for every beer enthusiast. Among these, one is typically a dark beer, catering to those who prefer a richer, more robust brew. In addition to the impressive beer selection, the alehouse also serves a daily offering of Pie & Peas, providing a comforting and hearty meal to accompany your drink. The alehouse itself is steeped in history. Constructed around the year 1900, it was originally built to serve the adjacent coal wharf, which was a major coal supplier for much of western Yorkshire. Adding to the charm and historical significance of the place, three wharfmen's cottages still stand proudly next to the pub, nestled by the Red Beck. In summary, whether you're a beer connoisseur or a history buff, or simply looking for a cozy spot to unwind, this alehouse, with its rich history and diverse beer selection, is a must-visit.
