The Optimist
Located at the intersection of Fish Street and St Giles Street, this well-liked town-centre pub is conveniently situated near the Guildhall, shopping centres, and the Derngate Theatre. It regularly hosts a variety of events, ranging from DJ sets to speciality food nights, ensuring there's always something exciting happening. In early 2018, the pub underwent a significant renovation by its owners, M&B. This extensive refurbishment took place over February and March, culminating in a name change and a fresh new look. The pub reopened its doors on 19th March 2018, now operating under the Oak Tree brand.
