Vulcan
The establishment commonly referred to as the 'Monkey', is easily identifiable by its sign featuring a playful, swinging ape. It was once a bustling hub under the management of Wilson's house, serving a thriving industry. However, as the industry relocated, the trade and sales of cask beer experienced a significant decline. The 'Monkey' has a rich history dating back to 1937 when it was leased to Walker & Homfray's Brewery by the Palatine Bottling Co. Originally, it was a Stopford's Brewery house, but in March 1968, it was transferred to Wilsons Brewery. Despite the changes in the industry and the challenges faced, the 'Monkey' remains a significant part of the local history and culture.
