The Kent
The establishment in question has a rich history, having undergone several transformations and name changes over the years. It was first known as Swan from 1462 to 1829. After that, it was renamed Kent and operated under this name from 1830 to 1909. In 1909, it became Doddrell's Wine Lodge and remained so until 1912. The name Kent was then revived and the establishment continued under this name for a significant period, from 1912 to 1976. In 1976, it underwent another transformation and was renamed Penny Farthing, a name it retained until 1991. Following this, it was known as Kent Bar & Bistro from around 2003 to 2006. In the late 2000s, the establishment took on various incarnations as a restaurant. However, by around 2012, it had reverted back to its original function as a pub. This historical journey reflects the establishment's ability to adapt and evolve over the centuries, catering to the changing tastes and preferences of its patrons.
