White Bear
The Frontage is a must-visit pub that has managed to retain its original charm and character, despite the changing times. It has not been overly modified or commercialized, which allows visitors to appreciate its many original features. The pub is located behind the White Bear on St Johns Lane, at the site of the former Baptists Head. Just across the street, you can still see the relief sign of the now-defunct Cross Keys pub, adding to the area's rich history. The Frontage offers a menu of reasonably priced, hearty meals, ensuring that visitors leave satisfied. According to the pub's official website, the establishment was built in 1899 and has always served as a pub. Interestingly, it also holds a darker piece of history. It was the final stop for convicts on their way to their executions at Smithfield. This unique blend of history and hospitality makes the Frontage a fascinating place to visit.
