Albert Tavern
On June 2, 2022, The Albert Tavern, a beloved local establishment, reopened its doors under the management of Greene King's Hive pubs. This franchise model is specifically designed to support and enhance community pubs. The Albert Tavern has retained its sports TV and dartboard, continuing its tradition of being a hub for sports enthusiasts. In addition, it continues to serve its popular 'pub grub', ensuring patrons can enjoy a hearty meal alongside their favorite drink. The current structure of The Albert Tavern dates back to the late 1960s. It was built to replace the original building, which unfortunately fell victim to a flying bomb. Over the years, the interior has undergone several modifications, resulting in a single bar pub that we see today. In the summer of 2019, The Albert Tavern faced a potential closure. However, the Croydon Council intervened and awarded the pub the status of Asset of Community Value. This recognition not only saved the pub from closure but also highlighted its importance and value to the local community.
