The Black Toad
In July 2019, a charming micropub was established in a previously vacant shop unit located on the bustling main shopping street in the heart of Hoylake. The pub's main room and bar, though narrow, are tastefully adorned with minimalist furniture, creating an inviting atmosphere. In 2020, the pub underwent an expansion, incorporating the adjacent shop to establish a new lounge area. Additionally, a small room at the back of the establishment was transformed into a bottle shop. The pub also features a delightful beer garden at the rear, offering a serene spot for patrons to enjoy their drinks. The proprietors of the pub are committed to maintaining a diverse selection of cask beers at all times, ensuring that there is something to suit every palate. Their dedication to providing an exceptional experience for their customers has not gone unnoticed. In 2021, the pub was honoured with the Lockdown Hero Award, a testament to their resilience and adaptability during challenging times. Furthermore, in 2023, the local CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) recognized the pub as a runner up for the Pub of the Year award. This accolade further underscores the pub's commitment to quality and its status as a beloved local establishment.
