Wilkins and Pye
The former Tipsy Toad off-licence premises have been transformed into a micro pub, aptly named after Longton's two long-gone breweries, W & R Wilkins and James Pye & Sons. The pub's logo pays homage to its brewing heritage, featuring the boar's head symbol originally used by the Pye Brewery. The micro pub offers a variety of beverages, with a special focus on two regular cask ales sourced from northwest breweries, Lancaster and Moorhouse's. These ales are served on handpump, maintaining the traditional brewing methods. Alongside these, the pub also provides a broad selection of other drinks, catering to a wide range of tastes. The W & R Wilkins Brewery and James Pye & Son Brewery hold significant historical importance in the area. The micro pub's name and logo are not just a nod to these breweries, but a celebration of Longton's rich brewing history. This establishment serves as a reminder of the town's past, while providing a cozy, welcoming environment for patrons to enjoy their drinks.
