The Rising Sun Hotel
The Miners Welfare Institute, a remarkable building designed by CFA Voysey, was originally constructed in 1908. In 1948, it was purchased by Tetleys to serve as a replacement for the original Rising Sun pub. The establishment was known for its comprehensive all-day menu and even earned the title of Wakefield Express Pub of the Year in 2006. However, according to the most recent survey, the pub has stopped offering cask ale. This change in offerings, coupled with the emergence of nearby competition, seems to have negatively impacted its business.
