Silent Whistle
The establishment, currently known as the Silent Whistle, has a rich history that dates back to its inception as the Old Bottle. In 1872, it was renamed the Railway Hotel, coinciding with the arrival of the South Devon Railway branch line from Totnes to the town. However, in 1962, following the closure of the branch line, it was rebranded as the Silent Whistle. There was a brief interlude in the late 1980s to early 1990s when the pub was known as the Fleece & Firkin. However, in 1994, when Ushers assumed control of the premises, the name was reverted back to the Silent Whistle. The pub is currently managed by the owners of the building. The Silent Whistle also boasts a cozy Snug Room, perfect for those seeking a more intimate setting. Additionally, the pub offers a rotating selection of real ales sourced from the Dartmoor Brewery, ensuring that patrons always have a variety of quality brews to choose from. This establishment's rich history and commitment to quality make it a unique and enjoyable destination for locals and visitors alike.
