Nevisons Leap
The community pub, named in honor of the infamous highwayman, Swift Nick, also known as John, Jack, or Jim Nevison, is a significant local landmark. The pub's name pays tribute to a daring feat attributed to Nevison, who is said to have jumped over a ravine on horseback while on a journey from Kent to York in 1676. Contrary to popular belief, this audacious act was not performed by Dick Turpin, another notorious highwayman, who lived 50 years later. A blue plaque commemorating this event can be found on a rock face outside the nearby Prince of WWMC. The operating hours of the pub are in accordance with its license.
