The Red Barn
The Red Barn, a well-known pub in Barnehurst, holds a significant place in the local community. Established in 1936, it was the only pub in the area until April 2018. The establishment of the Red Barn coincided with the development of the 'Barnehurst Estate'. The pub has a rich history, notably being credited for introducing traditional jazz to the UK, thanks to the efforts of George Webb and Humphrey Lyttelton in the 1940s. The Red Barn, while not particularly large, offers a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. It is conveniently located at Barnehurst station, making it a popular spot for locals and commuters alike. The pub also features a beer garden, providing an outdoor space for patrons to enjoy. In addition to its prime location near the station, the Red Barn is situated next to a group of shops, just off the main road from Bexleyheath to Erith. This strategic location further enhances its appeal to both residents and visitors, contributing to its status as a beloved local institution.
