The Rum Puncheon
Situated near the town pier and ferry to Tilbury, this historic riverside pub offers stunning views of the Thames from its rear terrace garden. The pub, which reopened under new management on Christmas Eve 2017, boasts an elegant main bar area, adorned with chandeliers and a cozy log fire. The walls are decorated with local photographs, adding a touch of local charm. The pub also features two function rooms on the upper floor, perfect for private events. In keeping with a traditional and relaxed atmosphere, there are no televisions or gaming machines, but you can enjoy some background music at times. After undergoing a redecoration, the pub reopened and has been serving three guest beers, typically sourced from local or regional breweries. In June 2019, the pub expanded its offerings to include meals, with a special focus on seafood. This historic pub offers a unique blend of traditional charm and modern amenities, making it a must-visit spot for locals and visitors alike.
