The Gardeners Arms
Situated on the main street of a quaint 19th-century village, this charming free house offers a unique blend of history and hospitality. The establishment is notably distinguished by a 1962 BR passenger carriage that has been ingeniously repurposed to house the pub's restrooms and storage facilities. The interior decor pays homage to the locale's history, with prints of old Sompting gracing the walls. The pub takes pride in serving home-cooked meals daily, offering a warm, old-fashioned experience that has earned it recognition as the Arun and Adur Pub of the Year in 2013. Patrons can also enjoy the outdoor sun terrace and a covered area designated for smokers. Despite a brief closure in late 2022, the pub was quick to bounce back, reopening its doors in early 2023. In addition to its regular offerings, the pub occasionally features guest beers, providing an ever-changing selection for beer enthusiasts. This roadside free house is more than just a pub; it's a friendly, welcoming space where history, community, and good food come together.
