Since the change of ownership in 2018, the new proprietors have continued to uphold the tradition of offering a wide selection of real ales and hosting the popular cider festival. They have also embarked on a thoughtful refurbishment process, which included the introduction of a new lounge bar towards the end of 2019. The pub's summer opening hours have been adjusted to begin at 16:00 from Monday to Thursday, an hour earlier than the previous 17:00 opening time. This dedication to maintaining tradition while introducing improvements has been recognized by the Tendring CAMRA, who awarded the establishment the title of Pub of the Year in 2020.
