The Red Lion
Established in 1868, this charming village pub exudes a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The establishment consists of two rooms, a quaint bar and a pool room, providing a cosy setting for locals and visitors alike. Originally a Clinch's pub, it later became part of the Courage portfolio. The pub offers a variety of traditional games, including different versions of dominos and the classic game of shove halfpenny, adding to its nostalgic charm. Outside, there is a small yard and several benches at the front, providing a pleasant spot for patrons to enjoy their drinks in the open air. Interestingly, the pub once had a garden, but it was relinquished many years ago to settle a gambling debt. In addition to its regular offerings, the pub hosts a monthly quiz night. This popular event not only provides an enjoyable evening of friendly competition, but also serves a noble cause, with proceeds going towards charity. This combination of history, community spirit, and philanthropy makes this village pub a unique and cherished local institution.
