The George Inn
The establishment, which was first licensed in 1397, is a magnificent structure built from flint stone and half-timber, with its foundations dating back to 1250. It also boasts a fascinating network of tunnels, once used by smugglers, that originate from its cellars. The bar, which is the oldest part of the inn, features an impressive inglenook fireplace adorned with a large copper hood. The walls are decorated with Sussex hop bines, and the floors are made of oak, adding to the establishment's historic charm. The inn also has a spacious garden at the back, complete with a heated terrace for guests to enjoy during chillier evenings.
