Royal Oak
The pub, one of the oldest in York, was constructed around 1591 and was initially a coaching house linked with the adjacent building. It was previously known as the Blue Boar in 1772 and later as the Blue Pig under the stewardship of landlord John Dickinson. The pub's facade, which is designed in mock Tudor style, was added in the 19th century. Despite these changes, the pub has managed to preserve many of its original features, including a snug, lounge, and public bar.
