The Maypole Inn

Founded more than a century ago on the eastern outskirts of the village, this pub has seen only three proprietors over an 82-year span. In 2010, it underwent renovations to create a more intimate bar area, while preserving some of its original etched glass windows. As a free house, it is known for its hospitable landlord and amicable regulars. The pub features three handpumps that primarily serve local beers, including Harvey's Sussex Best. Additionally, two guest ales are offered when the demand is high enough. Conveniently, it's just a seven-minute walk from the 291 bus route along Woods Hill Lane.
