The Globe Inn
The SRI is a public bar situated in an inn that dates back to the mid-19th century. The bar has managed to retain its Victorian-era counter, which is a testament to its rich history. Additionally, the bar-back features mirrors and slim pillars, believed to have been installed in the 1930s, adding to its vintage charm. The walls of the bar are adorned with old panelling, complete with attached benches, and a large stone fireplace with a wooden surround, further enhancing its rustic appeal. The lounge area, located on the right side of the bar, was originally divided into two rooms until the 1970s. This space has since been transformed into a single, more spacious area for patrons to relax and enjoy their drinks. Unfortunately, a charming off-sales area that was once a part of the bar was removed in 2004. Despite this, the SRI continues to offer a unique and nostalgic atmosphere that harks back to earlier times.
