Duke of York
Located on the historic Old London Road, this residence once sat on the primary route from Brighton to London, until the construction of a new bypass alleviated the village's persistent traffic issues. Today, the Duke is a central fixture in Sayers Common, a community named in honor of local legend, Tom Sayer, a highly respected bare-knuckle fighter. However, in April 2018, reports indicated that the property was closed and boarded up, leaving its future uncertain. Fortunately, in December 2019, the house reopened under new management, marking a new chapter in its history.
