The Northumberland Hussar
Established in 1955 and named in honor of a local regiment, this pub underwent a significant transformation in 2013, thanks to a substantial investment. The renovation resulted in a chic horseshoe-shaped bar, adorned with a variety of intriguing artefacts. The pub prides itself on its scratch-made food, prepared in a kitchen that is visible to patrons, adding an element of transparency and engagement to the dining experience. The pub features two sets of five handpulls, which dispense a selection of cask-conditioned ales sourced from both local and national microbreweries. Additionally, a dedicated handpull serves real cider, catering to a variety of tastes. The pub offers its beer in thirds, two-thirds, and pints, but not in halves, providing patrons with flexible serving options. The pub hosts a quiz night every Thursday, adding a fun and interactive element to the traditional pub experience. Children are welcome in the pub until 7pm, making it a family-friendly establishment during the early evening hours. This pub, with its rich history, modern amenities, and commitment to quality food and drink, offers a unique and enjoyable experience for all.
