The Sheldonian Theatre
The Sheldonian Theatre, a historic building situated in Oxford, England, was constructed between the years 1664 and 1669. The architectural design was the brainchild of Christopher Wren, specifically commissioned for the University of Oxford. The theatre bears the name of Gilbert Sheldon, who was the University's chancellor during the construction period. Sheldon was also the primary financial contributor to the project.
