The Rocket
The contemporary pub, which shares its name with its predecessor, was constructed to replace the original establishment that was torn down to make way for the M62 motorway. The pub's name, "The Rocket," pays tribute to the victorious locomotive from the inaugural railway competition. Unfortunately, the pub no longer offers real ale to its patrons.
