Royal Oak
The quaint terraced pub, established in 1820, was originally built to cater to the adjacent branch of the Leeds-Liverpool canal, which has since been filled in. Today, it operates as a free house, yet it still retains a touch of its historical past. The front window, adorned with etched glass, proudly displays the name of the now obsolete Nuttall & Co brewery of Blackburn, a testament to its rich heritage. The pub's layout is long and narrow, with a small bar situated in the inviting front room. It offers a warm, cosy atmosphere that is perfect for a relaxing drink. The pub serves meals, but only during lunchtimes, and not on Saturdays. In addition to its regular offerings, the pub also features a rotating selection of cask ale, served on handpump. This provides patrons with the opportunity to sample different brews on each visit. Despite the changes over the years, the pub continues to be a charming reminder of its historical roots.
