Royal Standard
In 2016, a significant refurbishment was undertaken on a building that features a beautifully intricate Royal Standard crest as part of its architectural design (refer to attached photos for details). This establishment operates as a single-bar pub, yet it still retains the original layout of its former two-bar configuration. The interior is carpeted and furnished with a diverse selection of tables and chairs, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for patrons. One of the unique features of this pub is its collection of historical local photographs, which notably include images of trams. These pictures not only add a touch of nostalgia but also serve as a tribute to the area's rich history. The pub is also equipped with multiple television screens, which are particularly favored by patrons who enjoy horse racing. However, it should be noted that as of September 2023, the three hand pumps installed in the pub are not in use. Despite this, the pub continues to be a popular local spot, offering a blend of history, comfort, and entertainment.
