St James' Tavern
Established in 1733 and later redesigned in 1897 by renowned pub architect, William Brutton, at an expense of £4,860, this establishment still maintains some of its original features. These include etched glass and tiled paintings by Doulton's of Lambeth, which depict scenes from Shakespearean plays, along with two other images showcasing hops and a vine. Today, it is a bustling venue that attracts a diverse crowd, including shoppers, theatre enthusiasts, and tourists. The establishment tends to draw a younger crowd during the late evening hours.
