Windmill Hotel & Nayeemas
The Windmill Hotel, a historic 17th-century coaching house, holds a significant place in American history. The renowned political activist and author, Thomas Paine, who is credited with coining the term "United States of America" during the independence era, served as the Excise Officer for Alford from 1764 to 1767. Interestingly, his office was located within the premises of the Windmill Hotel.
