Devonshire Arms
Constructed in 1927 by Courage, this three-storey building features a mock-Tudor design on the top two floors. The exterior proudly displays a fully preserved 'Take Courage' sign from the 1960s, along with the Courage Cockerel sign. The building now consists of a single U-shaped room, with walls adorned with fielded panelling up to three-quarters of their height. The bar counter also features this fielded panelling. The bar back is simply mirrored, with original leaded panels, although some have been replaced over time. An interesting feature of the building is the fixed bench seating on the Hawley Crescent side, which is likely to be original. This building is a testament to the architectural and design styles of its time, and continues to stand as a unique and historic structure.
